Peter Hook And The Light Philadelphia Concert reviews
Foo Fighters, were disappointing
The music was excessively loud, and I found myself seated at a considerable distance. Without using earplugs, I couldn't discern any lyrics while the performance was ongoing. Despite having 9 albums, the band heavily relied on cover songs from other artists. My expectation was to hear Peter Hook And The Light perform Foo Fighter tracks, not songs they personally favored from other bands. It would have been reasonable to include Nirvana covers, but unfortunately, this was not the case.
There was an excessive amount of instrumental interludes both between and during songs, which extended far too long and seemed more for the band's benefit than for the audience's enjoyment. I would have preferred if they focused on playing the songs I had paid to see. The event was scheduled to last until midnight, but it concluded 25-30 minutes early, with only Everlong performed as part of the encore. The craft beer being sold at $12 per pint was exorbitant.
During the moments when they performed their original material, which seemed to be a minority of their set, the band delivered a solid performance that I appreciated, especially with the use of earplugs. Despite my background in Nirvana and Foo Fighters music, there were only a handful of songs that truly resonated with me. While the band demonstrated effort and passion, the overall experience felt chaotic. Their actual capabilities surpass the performance they delivered.
The opening act offered very little in terms of musical substance, with only a brief window of tolerable music amidst the noise. Their vocals, songs, and overall sound failed to capture any sense of uniqueness or interest, ultimately making them forgettable.
